New Painting – First Crocuses at Summit Park

Summit park is located in the same forest of garry oak trees where my house is. Every spring, for a fleeting week or two, the ground is carpeted with crocuses. These were among some of the first I observed this year; and I’d never seen them in this yellow colour before. They were nestled in the grass amongst oak leaves that had fallen the previous autumn, slowly nourishing the soil for more crocuses in years to come.

Prints and the original painting are available here.

New Painting – Beaver Lake Reflection

There is mystery in the trees across the lake at dusk. It was a challenge to paint what I felt in there, I only saw black, but I could feel a place that felt at once safe and dangerous; a beckoning wild in the fleeting warmth of an autumn night at sunset.

Prints of this painting and the original are available here.
