Recent Painting – Mount Baker from Sidney

The scale of Mount Baker is confounding. It is over 100km away from Victoria, but on a clear day, it’s so apparent and clear on the skyline, it looks like I could walk there. It dwarfs the lighthouse at the end of Sidney Spit, so much closer by comparison.

The original of this painting has been sold.

Recent Painting – Arbutus at Gowland Tod Park

On this clear summer day, I walked with a good friend on trail I’d never walked before in Gowland Tod Park. We hiked up to a viewpoint where we could survey nearly all of Brentwood Bay, and then down to a beach far below. As we clambered up the point at the end of the beach, we came upon a rocky meadow with this view of the bay, framed perfectly by an arbutus tree.

The original of this painting has sold.

Artist in Residence at the Hotel Grand Pacific

I am pleased to announce that I am the artist in residence at the Hotel Grand Pacific on the inner harbour here in Victoria, BC for the month of August. This is part of the Artishow program, run by the Victoria Arts Council.

I have been painting, in the lobby of the hotel, and will be most weekdays until the end of the month. I have a number of paintings, prints, and greeting cards on display and available for purchase.

If you are in the neighbourhood, I’d love to see you. Stop by and say hello!

Recent Painting – Arbutus at Southey Point

There is such a feeling of contentment that comes on a warm summer night, especially when the golden sun is casting its last hard light on the warm colours of a sultry arbutus tree at the water’s edge of a lush forest on Saltspring Island.

The original painting and prints of this image are available here.
