I am fortunate to live near this Garry Oak meadow. These trees have so much character, their limbs twist and turn in such a way that they look like charicatures of themselves to my eye.
With this painting, I tried to get away from some of my usual habits. Instead of trying to keep every line as smooth as possible like I usually do, I abandoned brushes entirely and applied thick daubs of paint, wet on wet, using a palette knife.
