This commissioned painting was a gift from a groom to a bride, who are friends of ours. It depicts the setting of a decades old tradition of family camping and fishing vacations for them in the summertime on a lake in Mikisew, not far from Algonquin, in Ontario. I enjoyed imagining what great memories must have come from that tradition, and I hope I imbued it with some of my own, as I painted part of this during my own family’s annual summer vacation in Parksville here on the Vancouver Island.
