This was painted from a photograph taken during the long twilight of a spring night. There seems to be a time of year when spring progresses more and more every day. With longer days, plants wake up from their long sleep, and a weight lifts from our collective shoulders. On this night, when we walked around Swan Lake, it felt like the world was exhaling and starting to relax. We had to step up our pace to avoid being out after dark at the end, though. Night was approaching. Winter hadn’t given up all of it’s tenacious grip, but it was a relief to see colour returning to the landscape, and the sun in the clouds against a blue sky.
